Volunteers founded the Antelope Valley Child Abuse Prevention Council in 1998 as a California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation. The founders wanted to establish an agency that would be a part of a national initiative of hundreds of community based Child Abuse Councils. These councils were established to work with other caregivers to improve upon the safety and wellbeing of our children and families who are at risk for child abuse and neglect, and to raise public awareness of child abuse issues. We have four paid staff and we depend on membership dues, volunteers, donations, and fund raising events to fund our educational projects.
